Empowering Men Enduring Grief — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole BannerLast month, we focused on women’s empowerment in different areas of life — from purity, to boundary settings, Biblical studies, and in the midst of illness. This month, we will be focusing on men’s empowerment in different areas. So join me for a series of discussions to empower men.

This week on the Parker J Cole Show, we will be empoering men going through grief. Grief encompasses many aspects of life from the lost of a spouse or child, to the lost of a parent or friend. Sometime grief encompasses the loss of financial income and stability, personal goals, and other things. However, even in the changing culture of gender roles, men are still expected to be strong and resilent. Yet sometimes, grief can be hard to get over.

This month, we will be focusing on men’s empowerment in different areas. So join me for a series of discussions to empower men.

You may be wondering why we are focusing on men becoming disciples. Are men and women suppose to be disciples? Of course! I am not making one gender more responsbile for discipleship than the other. But since this is men’s empowerment month, we’ll talking about it from a man’s perspective and will explore it from a woman’s perspective later.

What does being a disciple mean? Is it church membership or something more? Brad Francis, author and teacher will empower men on how ot be disciples of Christ and to take it from a biblical standpoint. Empowering Women Through Spoken Words — The Parker J Cole Show

Parker J Cole BannerAs a writer, I appreciate the power of words. Not in a mystical sense where each word has some sort of magical element to it. But I understand how words can wound, uplift, and energize individuals. Words create images in the mind and take a reader to a far of place. They can lock us in the grip of terror or put us in the cusps of a wonderful relationship. In life, words can be extremely powerful.
To end our segment on women’s empowerment, we’re joined with guest Anita Azeem all the way from Pakistan. In this interview, Anita Azeem discusses her life as a Christian in Pakistan, the differences between the Western view of family and the Eastern view, and so much more…especially about the power of words.

The Parker J Cole Show — Empowering Women in the Midst of Illness

Parker J Cole BannerElizabeth Chalker is no stranger to illness. She has been suffering from a debilitating disease for years. From being on the fast track in life and success to dealing with chronic pain and fatigue every day, no one would be more surprised to hear bitterness and resentment from her lips.

However, even in the midst of illness Elizabeth continues to empower women with her story. I called her book, ‘Hanging on by the Scratch Marks my Nails Left Behind’ a book that is open heart surgery for the soul. When pain wracks your body and no one seems to get it. When the doctors can’t figure out what to do, and medicine gives no ease, how can you be empowered?

On this episode of the Parker J Cole show, Elizabeth will tell you how to be empowered in the midst of illness. The Parker J Cole Show — Empowering Women Through Biblical Studies

Join me for the month of March as we discuss women’s empowerment in various aspects of life as we celebrate Women’s History Month.

The area of where women place in the body of Christ is a hot topic among today’s evangelical Church. Whether women should lead in pastoral duties or remain silent under a patriarchal system of church authority there are all kinds of debates going. No matter where your opinion stands on this issue, biblical studies empowers women to learn about God for themselves as they seek to understand the Creator of both sexes.

Another reason why biblical study is important is because of the biblical illiteracy rampant in today’s society. There are Christians who have NEVER picked up a Bible or even tried to do an in-depth study on it. Perhaps if more are encouraged to take up biblical studies we can effectively retrain those of the Church to get back to biblical principles.

With me to discuss this is returning guest Lisa Guinther, a biblical scholar with a passion for educating women in biblical studies. From single mothers to career-focused women to married woman and single ladies, we put ourselves in positions of heart break through the lack of setting boundaries. We open our hearts to all sorts of situations from relationships to life choices and we lack the understanding and knowledge of what to do to assess where we need to set our boundaries.

Join me as we to empower women by setting healthy boundaries with my guest co-host and contributor R. J. Thesman from Gateway of Hope. You can call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. The Parker J Cole Show — Empowering Women about Purity with April Kelsey

Parker J Cole BannerJoin me for the month of March as we discuss women’s empowerment in various aspects of life as we celebrate Women’s History Month

The purity movement in the evangelical church is in and of itself a worthy cause. Children of knowledgeable years are encouraged to stay pure or abstain from any premarital sex. They wear promise rings, make sure their clothes are modest, and ensure that time with members of the opposite are limited to group activities where there is not hint of a chance of sexual impropriety.

Unfortunately, the purity movement hasn’t really done much to make our children pure. In fact, the burden of purity is such to where most of those promise keepers tend to break their promise. They’re left feeling guilty, unworthy of God’s love and forgiveness and are given a set f rules to follow that simply adds to the problem.

On this edition of the Parker J Cole show, we’ll be discussing how women can be empowered by purity regardless of their sexual state and how the Church can advocate purity without subjecting our children to a rule book no one can follow. To unfold this topic with me is April Kelsey, blogger of Revolutionary Faith.

The Parker J Cole Show — Relationship Month: Humans & the Earth

Parker J Cole BannerPeople make the world go around. That’s a fact. Without people, we really would be a ‘pale blue ball’  like Sagan once said. How we interact with each other helps to build families, communities, and cultures. All this month on the Parker J Cole show, we will be discussing relationships — from husband and wives to friends and siblings. Each week, our commentary will focus on particular aspect of the relational wheel.

This week we’ll be discussing the relationship humans have with the earth. After all, as I’ve said in throughout this month, people make the world go round. While we have responsibility to each other, we also have the God-given responsibility to steward the Earth. We have to be conscientious of that. Our impact on the environment is a hot topic of debate. On this show, we’ll be talking about that relationship we have along with climate change, green initiatives, and others with Dr. E. Calvin Beisner of the Cornwall Alliance.  You can call in at 646-668-8485, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the Stitcher and catch us on go. Parker J Cole Feature in UK’s Biggest Gospel Magazine — Keep the Faith

Very excited to share this with you! Enjoy and excerpt from this article and then click on the picture to read the rest of it. To say I’m excited would be an understatement.

Keep the Faith

KTF: What made you get into writing?

PJC: Stephen King, when he was asked a similar question said, “What makes you think I had a choice?” In the same vein, without the creepy, intense eye stare Stephen King would probably give, I feel the same way. There wasn’t a time in my life where writing wasn’t a part of it. I didn’t go into writing; I was born with ink in my blood. It was something I was crafted to do by the Author and Finisher of my entire existence.

KTF: What type of books do you write?

PJC: My books are edgy Christian romances and speculative fiction. I’m still feeling my way around the speculative fiction world, because it requires a different set of writing muscles in the grey matter mass encased in my skull, but I tend not to back down from a challenge when it comes to writing.

KTF: Now for the hard-hitting question: Have you ever experienced racism within the publishing industry? If you have, what have you done to overcome it?

PJC: Hit me hard (she laughs). Racism is such a huge card to throw around, especially in the US, where racial tensions fluctuate like underwater currents. At the same time, racism is also the bane and bone of the country. It’s a complex issue and it’s hard to grasp all the various intricacies involved. Suffice to say, I’ve experienced “bias” in the publishing industry, particularly in the faith-based markets.

This week on the show, we’ll be discussing the relationships we have with friends and others — co-workers, casual acquaintances and other dynamics of interplay. As Christian, we have the command from Christ to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Sometimes that includes the people we come in contact with every day.
